About Us

Tamil stories, on the big screen.

The German Tamil Film Festival is a new platform for Tamil cinema in Germany. It connects filmmakers from the Tamil community in Germany, across Europe and around the world with audiences who want to see their work.

Tamil cinema has a long and vibrant history, from large productions to independent, personal films. GTFF wants to give room to both, and especially to new voices whose films rarely reach a cinema screen here.

All submitted films are reviewed by the festival team. Selected films will be screened at the festival, and outstanding work will be recognised with awards.

The person behind GTFF

OrdinThanapalasingham

Founder of the festival · Publisher of tamil.de · Film distributor

Ordin Thanapalasingham brings Tamil cinema to cinemas in Germany and Austria.

He is the publisher of tamil.de, the lifestyle and news magazine for the Tamil community in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and runs Tamil.de Filmverleih, a film distribution company based in Germany.

Under his artist name Olyyn Thanasingh he presents Tamil feature films on German and Austrian cinema screens. He is also a music artist: his album Dr. Kadhal was heard and praised by Anirudh Ravichander.

With the German Tamil Film Festival he opens the next chapter: a stage not only for the big releases, but for the filmmakers whose work rarely reaches a cinema screen here.
